Our Turkey travel adventure continues as we make our way from Istanbul to Izmir—but not without a twist. On our journey, we’re stopped by police for a passport check, forcing us to grab a last-minute taxi just to catch our bus. What follows is a 6-hour journey down the country’s beautiful west coast. We arrive in Izmir and kick off our exploration the next morning by walking along the stunning waterfront promenade. After soaking up the local vibe, we take a ferry across the bay to explore the opposite side of the city. Back in the heart of Izmir, we visit the iconic Izmir Clock Tower, explore the Kemeraltı Bazaar (some of the best shopping we’ve seen so far in Turkey), and take in panoramic views from the historic elevator. To top it all off, we celebrate 12 years together and our 2nd wedding anniversary with a beautiful sunset over the city.
