Florida's biggest outdoor antique extravaganza is happening this weekend, and this video reminds us why it’s such a standout event! Renninger’s Mt. Dora market sprawls over hills and valleys, with more than 1,000 antique and vintage dealers offering everything from budget-friendly estate items to one-of-a-kind finds and luxury pieces. Join us as we take a stroll through history and explore its entirety in this wander through time! We only walk about 30 feet from my booth when we find our first fun buys of the day, a kitschy Northwest gooney bird in burnt wood and a truly elegant copper luster water pitcher from Victorian England. This is the variety that makes a huge show so fun, as we turn up a brass shoe shine stand, a happy faced 1950s orangeade dispenser, Fenton custard fairy lamps and a stunning millefiori glass mushroom lamp…and we’re just in the first aisle! One expert dealer shares tips on identifying Bitossi pieces (his “pizza” clock is a showstopper!), while another introduces us to a 1930s Effanbee marionette line designed by someone connected to Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. We also come across elegant figural silver plate napkin rings, beautiful Persian rugs, and a whole table of Empoli glass bottles. The show spans every corner of vintage collecting—from mid-century modern phones in bright colors to petroliana and Paden City party glassware! We meet a 40-year antiquing couple who’ve recently branched into fascinating folk art and repurposing of old castoffs into fun “new” figures and housewares, see the latest 1950s car clips that have become the basis for home bars and find a casino chair that’s been recovered for a good cause. Part of the fun of this show is sharing time and space with our fellow collectors, as our “Rogue’s Gallery” of co-conspirators shows! From oak ribbon cases from 1910 to Reagan and Gorbachev caricature busts, to an entire row of cigar cutters, the variety at this enormous show is mind-blowing.
